Where will you use it?
The eight steps are the same on every fabric. Pick yours and the page shows where to start, how to clean and how many bottles you need. Also for curtains, tablecloths, blinds, mattresses and bedding, jackets, shoes and bags, parasols and camping gear, at home and in hotels, restaurants and holiday lets.
Sofas and armchairs
The fabric that takes the coffee, the wine, the cola and the Friday pizza. Coated, a spill beads up on the surface instead of soaking into the cushion.
- Start with
- The seat cushions and armrests, then the back.
- Clean with
- FABRIC+ on the pad, then the towel.
- Best moment
- Any time, with a window open. Stay off it for 2 to 4 hours.
- You need
- 1 bottle per sofa
- Watch out
- Leather and suede: test a hidden spot first. FABRIC+ is not for silk or satin.
Car seats, carpets and floor mats
Crumbs, coffee and muddy shoes, every day. Coated seats, carpets and mats shrug off water and dirt, and marks come out with clean water.
- Start with
- The front seats, then the rear bench.
- Clean with
- FABRIC+ on the pad, then the towel. No soaking.
- Best moment
- A dry day between +10 °C and +30 °C, with the doors open.
- You need
- 1 bottle per car
- Watch out
- Fabric only: keep it off the dashboard, the glass and the screens.
Outdoor cushions, awnings and blinds
The fabric that lives with the weather. Coat it once and rain beads up and runs off instead of soaking in.
- Start with
- Dry cushions only, every side, one at a time.
- Clean with
- FABRIC+ on the pad, then the towel.
- Best moment
- A dry day between +10 °C and +30 °C, with no rain on the way.
- You need
- 1 bottle per 7,5 to 12,5 m²
- Watch out
- Never in the rain, and never on damp fabric.
Rugs and carpet
Where the dirt walks in. Coated, spills and dirt stay on the surface instead of sinking into the pile.
- Start with
- Vacuum it well, then start in the far corner and work towards the door.
- Clean with
- FABRIC+ on the pad, then the towel. No soaking.
- Best moment
- When nobody needs to walk on it for 2 to 4 hours.
- You need
- 1 bottle per 7,5 to 12,5 m²
- Watch out
- Test first: on fitted carpet the coating can loosen the glue or the foam backing.

Shown on a sofa. The steps are the same on your fabric.

1/8
Vacuum and test
Vacuum the fabric until it is free of dust and crumbs. Try FABRIC+ and Tex-Tech+ on a hidden spot and check the colour and feel after 24 hours. Start with the seat cushions, where the spills land. Start with the front seats, then the rear bench. Start with cushions that are fully dry, on a dry day. Vacuum it well, then start in the far corner.
-
2/8
Scrub in FABRIC+
Spray FABRIC+ onto the white side of the scrub pad, not onto the fabric, and scrub it into the stain. A light foam means it is working. Never on silk or satin.
-
3/8
Wipe away foam and stain
Wipe the foam off with the grey microfibre towel and the stain lifts out with it. Old or deep stains may need a second round. Washable covers can also be sprayed, left 10 to 15 minutes, then rinsed or machine-washed. Zip-off covers: you can also wash them as the label says. Fixed seats: scrub and wipe, never soak. Covers: you can also rinse or machine-wash. Rugs: scrub and wipe, never soak.
-
4/8
Dry
Leave the fabric to dry completely before you coat it. Tex-Tech+ only goes on fabric that is clean and dry.
-
5/8
Shake Tex-Tech+
Shake the bottle well. Use it as it comes: never dilute it or mix it with another product.
-
6/8
Mist in two crossed passes
Hold the bottle 30 cm from the fabric and mist one area evenly, then go over it again crosswise. On carpet, one light pass is enough. Do not soak the fabric.
-
7/8
Leave it uncovered to dry
Do not cover the fabric while it dries. Keep the room ventilated, with no flames and no smoking. It is touch-dry in 2 to 4 hours, depending on the temperature.
-
8/8
Wait 2 days
The final look shows after 24 hours, and the coating reaches its full effect after 2 days. From then on, spills bead up on the surface. Sit on it once it is touch-dry. Full protection after 2 days. Leave the doors open while it dries, and drive once it is touch-dry. Keep the cushions dry and out of the rain for 2 days. Walk on it once it is touch-dry, in clean shoes only.
Same sofa. Same fabric.
FABRIC+ lifts the stain. Tex-Tech+ makes the next spill bead up on the surface instead of soaking in.

How far one bottle goes
One 500 ml bottle covers about 7,5 to 12,5 m² of fabric.
- A three-seater sofa, about 5 m² of fabric
- 1 bottle
- The seats of most cars
- 1 bottle
- Outdoor cushions, up to 7,5 m² of fabric
- 1 bottle
- A 2 x 3 m rug, one light pass
- 1 bottle
- A 3 x 4 m rug
- 1 to 2 bottles
Not for
- Silk and satin: FABRIC+ is not for them. Test any delicate fabric on a hidden spot first.
- Untested fabric: mist a hidden spot first and check the colour and feel after 24 hours, especially on leather, suede and shoes with glued parts.
- Damp, dusty or stained fabric: Tex-Tech+ goes on clean, dry fabric only, so lift the stains first.
The right conditions
- Air and fabric between +10 °C and +30 °C, never in the rain.
- A ventilated room, away from flames, no smoking while it dries.
- 2 to 4 hours to touch-dry, 2 days to full effect.
Afterwards: clean water and a cloth
- Blot a spill up with a dry cloth while it sits on the surface. Clean water takes most marks out.
- For a stubborn mark, scrub it with FABRIC+ on the white side of the pad and wipe the foam away with the towel. Vacuum treated fabric regularly to keep it looking new.
- When drops stop beading up, lift any stains, let the fabric dry and coat it again.
Why not just clean the stain when it happens?
- A stain remover works after the spill has soaked in. Tex-Tech+ makes the fabric resist water and stains, so the spill beads up on top instead.
- A throw or a cover hides the fabric you chose. Tex-Tech+ is invisible: the feel, texture and colour stay as they are.
- Treated fabric shrugs off water, dirt and grease, so everyday marks come out with clean water, not a scrubbing session.

Not sure about your fabric?
Ask Afterfade
Will it make my sofa stain-proof?
No, not completely. Tex-Tech+ keeps water, dirt and grease on top of the fabric instead of letting them soak in. Blot a spill with a dry cloth while it still sits on the surface. The sooner you do, the easier it comes out.
Will it change the colour or feel of my fabric?
The coating is colourless and made to leave the colour, look and texture of the fabric unchanged. Every fabric reacts differently, though, so always test FABRIC+ and Tex-Tech+ on a hidden spot first.
How far does one bottle go?
One 500 ml bottle covers about 7,5 to 10 m² of upholstery fabric, or up to 12,5 m² of carpet, depending on the material. As a guide, a three-seater sofa takes one bottle, as does a 2 × 3 m rug with one light pass. For a 3 × 4 m rug, allow one to two bottles.
Do I need to clean the fabric first?
Yes. Tex-Tech+ only goes on fabric that is clean, dust-free, grease-free and dry. Vacuum away dust and crumbs, then lift every stain with FABRIC+. Let the fabric dry completely before you apply the coating, because any stain you coat over stays in.
How do I apply it?
Shake the bottle and use it undiluted. Hold it about 30 cm from the fabric and mist it on in two crossed passes. On carpet, one single pass is enough. Don’t soak the fabric, and don’t mix Tex-Tech+ with other products.
Can I use it on rugs and carpet?
Yes, but test on a hidden spot first. On some rugs and carpets, the coating can affect the adhesive or foam backing and make the edges curl. Once it’s touch-dry, you can walk on it with clean shoes.
When can I sit on it again?
The fabric is touch-dry after 2 to 4 hours, depending on the temperature. Protection reaches its full effect after 1 to 2 days. Don’t cover the fabric while it dries, and keep the room well ventilated to speed up drying.
Can I use it on clothing or shoes?
Yes: jackets, shoes and bags too. Test a hidden spot first, especially on leather, suede and glued soles. The protection lasts up to five washes: after that, let the item dry and coat it again.
Which fabrics should I avoid?
Don’t use FABRIC+ on silk or satin. Always test delicate fabrics on a hidden spot first.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, including on outdoor cushions. Apply it when the fabric is between +10 °C and +30 °C, and never in rainy weather.
How do I care for the fabric after treatment?
Clean water and a cloth are usually enough. For a stubborn mark, put a little FABRIC+ on the white side of the scrub pad and wipe the foam away with the towel. If drops stop beading up, clean the fabric, let it dry and apply Tex-Tech+ again.
What should I watch out for when applying it?
Tex-Tech+ contains solvents. Work in a well-ventilated room, away from open flames and other ignition sources, and don’t smoke while you apply it or while the fabric dries. Wear rubber gloves, a respirator mask (type A2P3R) and safety glasses if there’s a risk of splashes. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and contact a doctor. Keep out of reach of children.
How do I store it?
Keep it dry, closed and between +5 °C and +30 °C. Unopened, it keeps for 2 years from the production date.
How long does the protection last?
Up to five washes, according to the product specification. On fabric you don't wash, like a sofa or car seats, it wears with use: when drops stop beading up, clean the fabric, let it dry and apply Tex-Tech+ again.
