Everything you need to know about bringing faded aluminium and PVC back to life with Afterfade.
About the coating
What is Afterfade Pro-Tech+?
A wipe-on coating that brings faded aluminium and PVC back to life. It restores the original depth of colour and leaves a protective satin finish, with no spraying, sanding or replacing.
Which surfaces does it work on?
Aluminium and PVC: window frames, front and back doors, gates, garage doors and glass-wall profiles. It is made for exterior surfaces that have gone faded, dull or chalky.
Will it restore the original colour?
Yes. Pro-Tech+ re-saturates the surface so the original colour and its depth come back. It is clear, so it revives the colour that is already there rather than painting over it.
How long does it last?
The finish protects against sun and UV for up to five years. A quick Refill re-coat every few years keeps it looking new.
Applying it
Is it hard to apply?
No. If you can wipe a surface, you can apply Afterfade. Most people restore a whole feature in one afternoon, with no contractor and no renovation.
Do I need to prepare the surface first?
Yes, and it is simple. Clean and degrease the surface with the included Afterfade Prep+, then let it dry. A clean, dry surface is the key to a lasting finish.
How do I apply it?
Shake the coating well and spread a thin, even layer with the applicator pad. Work panel by panel, out of direct sun, then buff lightly with the microfibre cloth for an even satin sheen.
How long before it is dry?
Let it cure for at least 24 hours and keep it away from water and dust while it cures, so plan it for a dry day with no rain in the next 24 hours.
Can I apply it in any weather?
Apply to a dry surface, out of direct sun, on a dry day above roughly 10°C. Avoid rain for the first 24 hours after coating.
How do I use Prep+ step by step?
In four steps:
- Shake: shake the bottle well before use.
- Spray: spray Prep+ onto a clean microfibre cloth, for no overspray or drips.
- Wipe: wipe with even pressure, one section at a time. Turn the cloth and re-spray as needed.
- Dry: let the surface dry fully, then continue directly with Pro-Tech+.
How do I apply Pro-Tech+ step by step?
Exactly as on the bottle:
- Clean: make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
- Shake: shake the bottle well before use.
- Apply: apply a thin, even layer with a clean applicator pad or cloth.
- Buff: buff gently with a soft microfibre cloth and do not let it dry for more than 10 minutes.
- Cure: let it cure for at least 24 hours and keep it away from water and dust while it cures.
Choosing your kit
Which kit should I choose?
The Complete Kit restores a whole house: about a double garage door, a door and 10 to 15 window frames. For a large or detached house, or a second coat everywhere, the Double Kit gives you everything twice.
What is the Refill for?
The Pro-Tech+ Refill is the coating on its own, for topping up protection or re-coating later. It is the economical way to keep the finish looking new over the years.
Do I need the pad and cloth?
Both are included in the kits. You can also buy the applicator pad and microfibre cloth on their own, or as a value pack, for bigger jobs or replacements.
