Where did it land?
The method is the same on every fabric. Pick yours to see which stains it takes on, how to work it and what to do with washable covers.
Sofas and armchairs
Where the coffee, the wine and the Friday pizza end up. FABRIC+ goes on the pad, not the cushion, so the stain gets the product and the seat does not get soaked.
- Typical stains
- Coffee, tea, red wine, grease and sauce.
- How
- Spray the white side of the pad, scrub, wipe the foam away with the towel.
- Washable covers
- Zip-off covers: spray the stain, wait 10 to 15 minutes, rinse or machine-wash as the care label says.
- Then
- Let it dry fully. Tex-Tech+ keeps the next spill on top.
- Watch out
- Test a hidden spot first. Not for silk or satin.
Car seats and upholstery
Coffee on the commute, chocolate on the back seat. A few sprays on the pad and a towel are all it takes to bring a fabric seat back.
- Typical stains
- Coffee, soda, chocolate and greasy fingers.
- How
- Pad, scrub, wipe. Never soak a fixed seat.
- Washable covers
- Removable seat covers: spray, wait 10 to 15 minutes, rinse or machine-wash.
- Then
- Leave the doors open while the seat dries.
- Watch out
- Fabric seats only. Test low on the side of a seat first.
Cushions and washable covers
Scatter cushions, seat pads, the cover you can zip off. Work the stain out by hand, or let FABRIC+ sit and send the cover through the wash.
- Typical stains
- Wine, chocolate, sauce and lipstick.
- How
- Pad, scrub, wipe. Or spray the stain on a washable cover.
- Washable covers
- Spray the stain, wait 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse with water or machine-wash.
- Then
- Let the cushion dry fully before you use it again.
- Watch out
- Check the care label, and test on the inside of the cover first.
Rugs and carpet
Where drinks get knocked over and dinner gets dropped. FABRIC+ works on rugs and carpet, sisal and seagrass too.
- Typical stains
- Red wine, coffee, soda and dropped sauce.
- How
- Pad, scrub, wipe. Do not soak the pile.
- Washable covers
- Small washable rugs: spray, wait 10 to 15 minutes, rinse or machine-wash.
- Then
- Let it dry before anyone walks on it.
- Watch out
- Test in a corner under the furniture first.
Four steps, any fabric
You need FABRIC+, a soft scrub pad and a microfibre towel. Already have the Complete Kit? Use its pad and towel.
Shown on a sofa cushion. The steps are the same on your fabric.

1/4
Test a hidden spot
Try FABRIC+ somewhere nobody looks and check that the colour holds. Delicate fabric always gets a test first. On a sofa: under a seat cushion or the back of an armrest. In the car: low on the side of a seat. Cushions: the inside of the cover, near the zip. Rugs: a corner that sits under the furniture.
-
2/4
Spray the pad and scrub
Spray FABRIC+ onto the white side of the scrub pad, not onto the fabric, and scrub it gently into the stain. A light foam means it is working. Use it as it comes: never dilute it or mix it with another product.
-
3/4
Wipe away foam and stain
Wipe the foam off with the microfibre towel and the stain lifts out with it. Old or deep stains may need a second round. Washable covers can also be sprayed, left 10 to 15 minutes, then rinsed or machine-washed. Zip-off covers: you can also wash them as the label says. Fixed seats: scrub and wipe, never soak. Covers: you can also rinse or machine-wash. Rugs: scrub and wipe, never soak.
-
4/4
Let it dry
Leave the fabric to dry fully. Rinse the pad with water and let it dry too. Want the next spill to bead up? Coat the dry fabric with Tex-Tech+.
One stain, one pad, one towel.
FABRIC+ goes onto the pad, the pad goes onto the stain, and the towel takes the foam and the stain away together.

What one bottle takes on
FABRIC+ goes on the pad, not across the fabric, so each stain gets only what it needs. How many stains a bottle handles depends on the stain and the fabric, so we do not put a number on it.
- Drinks
- Coffee, tea, red wine, soda
- Food
- Grease, sauce, chocolate
- Make-up
- Lipstick
- Fabrics
- Cotton, linen, viscose, acrylic, polyester
- Rugs and carpet
- Including sisal and seagrass
Not for
- Silk and satin. Test any delicate fabric on a hidden spot first.
- Diluting or mixing: use it neat, straight from the bottle, and never with another product.
- Spraying straight onto fixed upholstery: on a sofa or a car seat it goes on the pad, so the cushion does not get soaked.
Good to know
- Fresh or old, the method is the same. Old or deep stains may need a second round.
- Washable covers: spray, wait 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse or machine-wash.
- Wear household gloves and keep it away from your eyes.
Afterwards
- Rinse the pad with water and let it dry, ready for the next spill.
- Close the bottle and keep it in a dry place, out of the light, between +5 °C and +25 °C.
- Want the next spill to stay on top? Once the fabric is dry, coat it with Tex-Tech+.
Why the pad goes on the fabric, not the bottle
- FABRIC+ lands on the stain, not across the whole cushion.
- The soft white side works it into the fibres, and the light foam shows you it is working.
- The towel lifts the foam and the stain together and leaves no residue behind.

Not sure about your fabric?
Ask Afterfade
Will it make my sofa stain-proof?
No, not completely. Tex-Tech+ keeps water, dirt and grease on top of the fabric instead of letting them soak in. Blot a spill with a dry cloth while it still sits on the surface. The sooner you do, the easier it comes out.
Will it change the colour or feel of my fabric?
The coating is colourless and made to leave the colour, look and texture of the fabric unchanged. Every fabric reacts differently, though, so always test FABRIC+ and Tex-Tech+ on a hidden spot first.
How far does one bottle go?
One 500 ml bottle covers about 7,5 to 10 m² of upholstery fabric, or up to 12,5 m² of carpet, depending on the material. As a guide, a three-seater sofa takes one bottle, as does a 2 × 3 m rug with one light pass. For a 3 × 4 m rug, allow one to two bottles.
Do I need to clean the fabric first?
Yes. Tex-Tech+ only goes on fabric that is clean, dust-free, grease-free and dry. Vacuum away dust and crumbs, then lift every stain with FABRIC+. Let the fabric dry completely before you apply the coating, because any stain you coat over stays in.
How do I apply it?
Shake the bottle and use it undiluted. Hold it about 30 cm from the fabric and mist it on in two crossed passes. On carpet, one single pass is enough. Don’t soak the fabric, and don’t mix Tex-Tech+ with other products.
Can I use it on rugs and carpet?
Yes, but test on a hidden spot first. On some rugs and carpets, the coating can affect the adhesive or foam backing and make the edges curl. Once it’s touch-dry, you can walk on it with clean shoes.
When can I sit on it again?
The fabric is touch-dry after 2 to 4 hours, depending on the temperature. Protection reaches its full effect after 1 to 2 days. Don’t cover the fabric while it dries, and keep the room well ventilated to speed up drying.
Can I use it on clothing or shoes?
Yes: jackets, shoes and bags too. Test a hidden spot first, especially on leather, suede and glued soles. The protection lasts up to five washes: after that, let the item dry and coat it again.
Which fabrics should I avoid?
Don’t use FABRIC+ on silk or satin. Always test delicate fabrics on a hidden spot first.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, including on outdoor cushions. Apply it when the fabric is between +10 °C and +30 °C, and never in rainy weather.
How do I care for the fabric after treatment?
Clean water and a cloth are usually enough. For a stubborn mark, put a little FABRIC+ on the white side of the scrub pad and wipe the foam away with the towel. If drops stop beading up, clean the fabric, let it dry and apply Tex-Tech+ again.
What should I watch out for when applying it?
Tex-Tech+ contains solvents. Work in a well-ventilated room, away from open flames and other ignition sources, and don’t smoke while you apply it or while the fabric dries. Wear rubber gloves, a respirator mask (type A2P3R) and safety glasses if there’s a risk of splashes. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and contact a doctor. Keep out of reach of children.
How do I store it?
Keep it dry, closed and between +5 °C and +30 °C. Unopened, it keeps for 2 years from the production date.
How long does the protection last?
Up to five washes, according to the product specification. On fabric you don't wash, like a sofa or car seats, it wears with use: when drops stop beading up, clean the fabric, let it dry and apply Tex-Tech+ again.
